The Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum is seeking a Museum Associate to help oversee daily functions in Guest Services and provide the best possible guest experience. The Museum Associate is responsible for coordinating with the Guest Services Manager and assisting in the oversight of guest service operations at the admissions desk, gift store, and at the museum Flight Simulators. Additionally, the Museum Associate will assist in but is not limited to, scheduling group tours, coordinating with third party groups for museum functions, and supporting the online museum store. The Museum Associate coordinates heavily with other museum staff, volunteers, and departments frequently to create a positive, smooth environment for guests and staff members alike. The Museum Associate will assist in the hiring and training of new team members, performing evaluations, creating guest service policy, ensuring the proper procedure is followed through all areas of the department, and resolving any guest or staff issues that may arise. This position reports to the Guest Services Manager and the Deputy Director.



  • Creating a welcoming, friendly, and professional Museum environment and serving as an advocate and representative of the Museum through guest interaction
  • Accurate reconciliation of daily cash drawer and credit card reports
  • Preparing daily deposits, and changing orders accurately
  • Assist and oversee team members opening and closing areas of Guest Services operations (admissions, store, and simulators)
  • Works with the Guest Services Manager to continually streamline operations, organization, and duties of the department to ensure a smooth guest and staff experience
  • Works with department team members to ensure appropriate coverage and communication is occurring in the department
  • Promotes museum store sales, and the online store
  • Processes transactions from the online store
  • Helps to the overall management and provide oversight of the online store
  • Works with tour guides and other volunteers to ensure museum programs and operation
  • Assists in bank and shipping runs
  • Assists in hiring, training, and overseeing department team members
  • Assists in the visual appeal, cleanliness, and organization of all areas of Guest Services
  • Regularly promotes museum events, memberships, and other museum functions
  • Responds to guests and/or third-party questions and inquiries
  • Enters data and statistics for daily and weekly reports in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Assist in scheduling group tours and coordination of volunteer tour guides.
  • Management of incoming merchandise inventory.



  • Minimum of one year in a supervisory or management position required
  • Two or more years of prior customer service or retail experience required
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Prior experience with online retail preferred
  • A strong level of phone etiquette required
  • Must be guest experience focused
  • Ability to work in a fluid environment where a change in schedule and direction is imminent
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple areas and projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take initiative
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Must be willing to work 32-40 hours per week
  • Must be able to pass a background check



  • Work schedule may include weekends, evenings, and some holidays
  • Average day is 8:30am-5:30pm
  • Work will be performed indoors
  • Frequent standing, walking, and moving from one area in the department to another
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
