Celebrate Science at a SciPop Interactive Event Featuring Comic Book Heroes & Harry Potter

ASHLAND, Neb. (March 4, 2019) – The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum is proud to once again partner with the Nebraska Science Festival, an initiative of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), as a host facility for hundreds of youth who participate in this celebration of all things science.

On Saturday, April 6, 2019 the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum will host SciPop Interactive a public event that is part of a month-long science festival. Sponsored by the Nebraska Local Section of the American Chemical Society, University of Nebraska, and in part by Seldin Company, SciPop Interactive includes science demonstrations and hands-on activities that highlight the mystery and illusion of pop-culture icons from Harry Potter and comic books.

Guests ages 12 and younger will received free admission and are encouraged to wear their favorite costume in support of their favorite comic book or Harry Potter character. There will be fun hands-on activities from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. including lessons on herbology and potions of Harry Potter, explore the universe by playing with color and light, or create an ice ball like a comic book superhero. There will be make-and-take projects for the first 500 youth, which include an invisible ink potion and an opportunity to create a comic book.

Scientists will take the stage at various times throughout the event to demonstrate the magic and mystery of chemistry in our world and beyond. These demonstrations include learning about the chemistry of several notable fantastic beasts from the world of Harry Potter. SciPop Interactive will conclude at 2:00 p.m. with a super-secret science extravaganza.

The event is free for guests age 12 and under, sponsored by donors and the Nebraska Local Section of the American Chemical Society. General admission applies to adults who are not museum members. General admission is $12 for adults and $11 for military and seniors. Museum members are free.
