Coming Fall 2016

A new exhibit at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum: “Rocket’s Red Glare: SAC Missile Programs” last from October 15, 2016 – January 8, 2017. The exhibit features artifacts both large and small artifacts from the Museum’s archives that reveals the history of the United States Air Force (USAF) missile programs.

Planes, Trains, & Autos (Oct 22-23) – A Trick or Treat event intended to educate Museum guests on various modes of transportation. The event will feature five Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum aircraft, unique muscle cars, and model trains. To add to the event excitement, guests are encouraged to come in costume and trick or treat various stations. Trick or treat and make-and-take activities are from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on both days.  Museum educators will work with guests to build a plane, train or car out of boxes showcasing modes of transportation over time.

Family Night Extravaganza (Nov 12) -The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum is staying open late to offer an exciting engineering night at the museum. The event is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and includes an airplane crawl plus an interactive family trivia game competition.  Guests will be able to explore the Museum’s T-29 “Flying Classroom” and learn how the aircraft was used as a military technology navigation trainer.  The night includes a family competition!  The family that wins the trivia competition will receive a Family Game Night prize to take home with them!  Guests can engage in fun play with Angry Bird Engineering, Jumbo chess, checker and Jenga.  Museum educators will lead a creative challenge where guests make parachutes out of everyday household items then test their design by launching it into the Museum’s Atrium.  Guests may bring a picnic dinner or eat at the museum’s new snack bar, SAC Lunch. 

Santa Goes to Space (Dec 3) – The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum will celebrate the holiday season and Space Day by bringing Santa Claus and Star Wars characters together for a fun-filled family day. Young guests will have the opportunity to visit with Santa and sit inside the Museum’s mini-F4 fighter jet. The Museum will also feature space-related booths, free planetarium showings, a make-and-take activity and holiday music. Event time is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
