The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum Announces Helicopter Day • Saturday, May 28, 2016
(April 26, 2016) ASHLAND, NE – Helicopter Day, sponsored by Midwest Medical Transport, is an indoor and outdoor event held at the SAC Aerospace Museum in celebration of aviation careers and the history of helicopters. The event is free to the public for outside activities and general admission applies for indoor activities. Spectators will be able to watch in wonder as Midwest Medical Transportation, law enforcement, and commercial and private helicopters fly over the horizon and land right in front them. The helicopters begin their decent at 10 a.m. After the helicopters land, spectators can visit with helicopter pilots, including medical and law officials, about their careers and get a firsthand view of each aircraft. Helicopter rides will be available and are scheduled through Galaxy Enterprises of Holdrege, Neb. on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Inside the museum, activities include a special visit from the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo, a drone workshop on flight and safety, free helicopter balloon sculptors, make-and-take projects offered by sponsors, and a science demonstration by the Museum’s Mad Scientist.
The event will be held from 10 a.m until 2 p.m. and guests should check the Museum’s website for announcements. If inclement weather arises the event will be rescheduled to June 4, 2016.
