Pinewood Fury

The standard rules have been lifted to allow for the most creative and elite pinewood cars of all time in this first ever Pinewood Fury. Make a new pinewood car to compete with the best of the best, or bring your old car to test its might in 1 of 3 different events: Speed, Distance, or Slowest. Make the fastest pinewood ever, add wings and send your pinewood soaring, or bring your old clunker in the battle of the slowest in this whimsical take on an age-old scouting tradition. Anyone ages 6-19 is welcome to register whether a past/present/future scout, or just a scout at heart. Make sure to read the event specific rules before registering and designing your pinewood car.

-Cars can be made of any non-toxic/non-hazardous materials but must have the standard track width of 1.75 inches to fit in the track.  

-Cars can be any length and weight, but cannot exceed a 3 inch width.  

-Nothing shall be added to interfere with other cars or that will damage the track. 

-The car must be propelled by gravity with no additional power sources. 

-Each car will go through 3 heats in different lanes, and the best time from each car will be used to determine the winners

-Each car will go through 3 heats in different lanes, the car will fly off a ramp, and it will land on a padded surface. The longest distance from each car will be used to determine the winners. 

-If your car has wings or a glider, it must be sturdy enough to withstand the landing; if it breaks during the landing, you will NOT be able to fix it prior to the next heat.  

-Cars can be made of any non-toxic/non-hazardous materials but must have the standard track width of 1.75 inches to fit in the track.  

-Cars can be any length and weight, but cannot exceed a 3 inch width.  

-Nothing shall be added to interfere with other cars or that will damage the track. 

-No electric or other powered breaking system can be added to car, but mechanical breaking may be added as long as it does not interfere with other cars 

-Each car will go through 3 heats in different lanes, and the slowest time from each car will be used to determine the winners.  

-Cars must move continuously the entire race; no device shall be added that intentionally stops the car completely to delay rolling down the track, but devices that reduce the speed while still being able to cross the finish line is allowed.
