Veteran’s Day 2016

ASHLAND, NE – (October 11, 2016) – The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum offers FREE admission and lunch to all Military Veterans during its Veterans Day program on November 11, 2016. The general public is invited to attend the Veterans Day program. Admission will be charged but lunch is free.

The program topic is focused on the United States missiles program starting with the political tensions of the Cold War and how the United States developed strategies that enabled strategic military forces to respond at a moment’s notice should anything threaten the United States. The program also covers the importance of missile tracking and monitoring today.

“This is an opportunity for guests to learn about six decades of technological advances of how USAF missileers transformed their service of manned bombers to an indispensable arm of America’s military force,” said Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum Executive Director Dr. Michael McGinnis. “This free admission and free lunch were made possible through the support of Midlands Community Foundation, Bellevue University, and Harry A. Koch Co.”

Guest speakers are Colonel Reyes Colón, Chief Operations Command & Control Division, Global Operations Directorate, United States Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska and Paul G. Cohen, Brigadier General, USAF (Ret), Air National Guard.

The event will be held at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum located 28210 West Park Highway, Ashland, NE, which is just minutes from Lincoln or Omaha near Interstate I-80 off Exit 426. Guests should arrive before 11:30 a.m., the program will begin with the posting of the colors by the Ashland Legion Post 129 will conclude with a guided tour of the Museum’s , “Rocket’s Red Glare: SAC Missile Programs” exhibit. Veterans are encouraged to attend this event in uniform.
