Veterans Day Program & Lunch
Free to all Veterans

ASHLAND, NE – (August 1, 2018) – The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum offers FREE admission and lunch to all Military Veterans during its Veterans Day program on November 11, 2018.  The public is invited to attend the Veterans Day program and receive a free lunch. The event will begin with a light lunch at 12:30 p.m. and the program at 1:00 p.m.  Advanced registration is required and admission is paid at the door for all non-Veterans who register.

The program topic is focused on the 50th Anniversary of peak U. S. involvement in Vietnam.  Mr. Michael “Mick” Guttau, chairman of TS Banking Group is the keynote speaker for this event. Captain Michael Guttau, US Army (Ret.) was a Cobra attack helicopter pilot and Air Mission Commander in the Vietnam War.  He was a recipient of 28 air medals, an Air Medal for Valor, the Bronze Star, and two Distinguished Flying Crosses.  After his military service he purchased TS Bank and turned it into the community prosperity engine that it is today.

The event is held at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum located 28210 West Park Highway, Ashland, NE, which is just minutes from Lincoln or Omaha near Interstate I-80 off Exit 426. Guests should arrive before 12:00 p.m.; the program will begin with the posting of the colors by the Ashland Legion Post 129 and will conclude with a tour of the Museum’s new exhibit on Vietnam.  The new exhibit entitled “From the Ground up: Air War Vietnam” takes guests through the role of the Forward Air Controller on the ground to the strategic bombing missions of the B-52.

The museum is open 9 am – 5 pm daily. General admission applies to those who are not Veterans but lunch is free. The event is free to members.  Adults are $12, seniors are $11 and Children 4-12 are $6.

About the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum – Located between Lincoln and Omaha near Interstate 80, utilizes over 300,000 square feet of exhibit, education, and event space.  Organized in 1959, the original mission of the museum was to commemorate the contributions of the Strategic Air Command, which until 1992 was headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base.  The museum moved to its current location in 1998 upon completion of a new indoor facility. The museum houses an impressive collection of military aircraft and space artifacts, many of which have been restored in the museum’s on-site restoration facility.  To better serve the community, the museum offers STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education opportunities for students, teachers, families, and adult learners.  Traveling exhibits, permanent exhibits, and a variety of special events provide additional unique experiences for the museum’s members and guests.
