Vice President of Finance & Administration

Title: Vice President of Finance and Administration

Department: Administration

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Position Summary:
The Vice President of Finance and Administration is responsible for the financial strategy, management, and sustainability of the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum. This role oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, risk management, and compliance, to ensure the long-term financial health of the Museum.  This position also oversees Human Resources management. The VP of Finance and Administration will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop financial plans and strategies that support the Museum’s mission and growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

60% Financial Strategy & Management

  • Develop and oversee the Museum’s financial strategy to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
  • Lead the preparation and management of the annual budget, financial forecasting, and cash flow projections.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, nonprofit accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and implement strategies for financial risk mitigation.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee the investment portfolio and financial reserves of the Museum.

25% Financial Operations & Compliance

  • Supervise all financial activities, including accounting, payroll, tax filings, and audits.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting of financial performance.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
  • Oversee grant financial management, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting.
  • Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting to stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
  • Work closely with external auditors and tax professionals during annual audits and tax filings.

15% Human Resources Management & Collaboration

  • Oversee the Director of Human Resources and all HR related policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial planning with operational goals.
  • Present financial reports to the Board of Directors, ensuring clear and concise communication of financial performance.
  • Support fundraising initiatives by providing financial insights and strategies for donor relations.
  • Represent the Museum in financial matters with external partners, donors, and grant agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit or museum setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in budget development, financial forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.

Salary:  $140,000 – $150,000

Summer Camp Instructor

SUMMARY

The Camp Instructor assists the Museum’s Education Department by enthusiastically delivering hands- on, educational programming to children 6 to 13+ years old.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivers fun-filled, educational programs to summer campers
  • Develops program itinerary for each camp
  • Represents the Museum in a positive manner by maintaining a positive attitude and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Actively contributes to positive guest experiences
  • Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of campers
  • Serves as a team player in the Education Department by supporting the department’s goals

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience facilitating youth in informal education setting or related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to supervise children

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent organization, presentation, and motivational skills
  • Strong interest in Museum education
  • Ability to convey accurate scientific information in a meaningful way to children and adults

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This is an in-person position that functions on site at the museum, either indoors or outdoors, depending on the educational program need
  • Lifting and carrying up to but not to exceed 50 pounds.
  • Will work directly with children, Education Team members, and other Museum staff.

Cafe Associate (Full-Time)

Job Summary

The Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum is in search of a dedicated and skilled individual to fill the role of Cafe Associate in our dynamic café environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing culinary tasks with precision, adhering to food safety standards, and contributing to the overall success of our kitchen operations. Reporting to the Café Manager, the Cafe Associate will be responsible for various duties related to daily operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

– Obtain or ability to obtain a ServSafe Food Handlers Permit within 30 days of employment.

– Collaborate with the management team to ensure adherence to cafe standards.

– Familiarity with FIFO (First In, First Out), Food Safety Zones, and relevant health and safety food standards.

– Demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.

– Record and monitor temperature logs as required.

– Set up workstations with necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.

– Prepare, cook, and assemble dishes according to cafe and food safety standards.

– Practice portion control, manage stock lists, and minimize waste.

– Maintain timely food preparation by restocking ingredients and meeting prep times.

– Keep workstations and kitchen equipment clean and orderly.

– Adhere to sanitary, health, safety, and personal hygiene standards.

– Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients and products.

– Perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.

– Follow cooking directions accurately.

– Assist with opening and closing tasks as assigned.

– Support functions and events as needed.

– Communicate low inventory items and sanitation or maintenance concerns to management.

– Report any violations to management promptly.

– Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

– One or more years of experience as a Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

– Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
