Position Summary:
The Vice President of Finance and Administration is responsible for the financial strategy, management, and sustainability of the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum. This role oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, risk management, and compliance, to ensure the long-term financial health of the Museum. This position also oversees Human Resources management. The VP of Finance and Administration will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop financial plans and strategies that support the Museum’s mission and growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
60% Financial Strategy & Management
- Develop and oversee the Museum’s financial strategy to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.
- Lead the preparation and management of the annual budget, financial forecasting, and cash flow projections.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, nonprofit accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
- Conduct financial risk assessments and implement strategies for financial risk mitigation.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee the investment portfolio and financial reserves of the Museum.
25% Financial Operations & Compliance
- Supervise all financial activities, including accounting, payroll, tax filings, and audits.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting of financial performance.
- Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Oversee grant financial management, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting.
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting to stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
- Work closely with external auditors and tax professionals during annual audits and tax filings.
15% Human Resources Management & Collaboration
- Oversee the Director of Human Resources and all HR related policies and procedures
- Collaborate with department heads to align financial planning with operational goals.
- Present financial reports to the Board of Directors, ensuring clear and concise communication of financial performance.
- Support fundraising initiatives by providing financial insights and strategies for donor relations.
- Represent the Museum in financial matters with external partners, donors, and grant agencies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit or museum setting.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience in budget development, financial forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
Salary: $140,000 – $150,000
