Museum Volunteers Help Preserve Historic Aircraft Engines
With the help of a great team of volunteers, we moved several historic aircraft engines to better preserve and prepare them for future display.
The engines include Pratt & Whitney TF33 turbofan engines from the EC-135, each producing 18,000 pounds of thrust, three J79 engines from the B-58 Hustler, and a Rolls-Royce Olympus engine from the Avro Vulcan.
Volunteer Neil Contor acquired engine stands for three of the TF33s from Offutt Air Force Base, and we plan to prepare at least two of them for display with our EC-135.
